Relentless Nass 2012 Girlzilla Women’s Skate Contest

Tip toeing their way through the muddy mire which was this year’s Relentless Nass, the world’s best female skateboarders made their way to the Pro Course for the Women’s Skateboard Contest on Saturday evening. An international lineup of the greatest names in skateboarding saw women from America, Brazil, Sweden, Italy, Japan and the UK battle it out for the title.

The top six skaters made it through for an exciting final which kicked off with Billabong’s Lacey Baker. Last year’s winner went all out with a really stylish 180 to nose manual on the box, a boardslide down the rail and a tre flip over the hip. Leticia Bufoni’s awe inspiring run full of huge airs and technical manouevers followed next, the diminutive Brazilian floating effortlessly high over the huge jump box and step up before tackling the rails and nailing a frontside lipslide to fakie and a fifty fifty.

X Games gold medalist Alexis Sablone’s technical street style was evident and she stepped things up with a nollie backside lipslide and a big kickflip down the gap. The UK’s own Lucy Adams was was also skating well, her signature strong, smooth style impressing the judges.

In the end Leticia took first, her ballsy airs over the box and full use of all the obstacles getting the seal of approval from the judges. Lacey Baker took second with her run packed full of bangers leaving Alexis Sablone to take third. The top three women were very close, and it was tight battle.
