Here at Coven we’re not fans of the poker straight ironed out mane, we like to pretend we’re hitting the surf every day even though we’re generally in an office. More importantly we’re too lazy to spend hours on a blow dry when we could be fitting in a workout, heading down the skatepark or running our little socks off on the trails.
Nontheless, we’re happy as larry when we coax our tresses into a surf goddess style waterfall of waves so we thought we’d let you into our secret on how to achieve the ultimate beach hair look.
Start off with dry hair and spritz on a little styling spray. Starting with the long hair underneath (you can pin shorter hair out of the way) wrap long sections around the open barrel of a curling iron, holding for about ten seconds. You can do this pretty rapidly using chunky sections of hair before repeating the procedure on the upper sections. Next, flip your head upside and give it a quick spray with hairspray or homemade salt spray. Wait a couple of seconds, flip your head back the right way then gentle comb through your hair with your fingers.
Too complicated? The mega cheat method is this: Bung your hair in a high ponytail after your shower, then wrap the rest of it around into a top knot. Leave to dry and unravel. Voila! Surf hair!
To make your own homemade sea salt spray for beachy hair add two tablespoons of sea salt and a blob of conditioner to a spray bottle containing 225ml of water. Shake up and then spray for wavy locks.
